Tuition per semester for in-state students as part of NC Promise
The five-year Strategic Plan calls on the UNC System to achieve ambitious goals. Progress toward these goals and metrics will be achieved through the hard work and commitment of institutional leaders, faculty, and staff.
NC Promise and Historically Minority-Serving Institution
The NC Promise Tuition Plan means students pay tuition expenses of just $500 per semester for in-state students and $2,500 per semester for out-of-state students. This applies to all undergraduate students, online, transfer, freshmen, and currently enrolled students. Student fees, along with room and board costs will not be impacted. NC Promise dramatically reduces the expense of a college education, saving students at least $10,000 over their four years of enrollment.
The UNC System Board of Governors created a special Committee on Historically Minority-Serving Institutions in 2018 to study and assess six institutions’ unique challenges and promising opportunities. The goal of the committee is to create strategies that will ensure these institutions’ future growth by promoting investments, opportunities, and awareness throughout the state.
