Classes

During the Spring 2020 semester, all institutions transitioned from in-person instruction to alternative course delivery, except in select cases where in-person instruction was the only viable method (less than five percent of classes). Alternative course delivery will continue until otherwise directed.

Residence Halls

Refer to your individual institution’s COVID-19 resources for Fall 2020 residence hall and campus life information.

Events

We ask that our institutions refer to the CDC’s guidance on appropriate gathering sizes and follow North Carolina’s three-phased opening plan guidance. Refer to the Governor’s executive orders for the latest information.

Currently, all institutions are prohibited from hosting gatherings of 10 or more people, unless prior written authorization is given by the chancellor or the provost. This includes events sponsored by student organizations. Consideration to cancel or postpone is based on the anticipated number of participants and the size of the proposed venue, taking into account the transmissibility of the virus in more confined spaces.

Travel and Study Abroad

All institutions have recalled students from study abroad programs at this time. University-sponsored travel outside the state of North Carolina, or within the state to gatherings of 10 or more people, is suspended unless prior written authorization to travel is given by the chancellor or the provost. This prohibition includes student organizations.

If you have questions about your individual institution’s policy, visit the institution-specific resources page.
