Office of the Secretary
The Office of the Secretary serves as the lead liaison between the UNC System Office and the Board of Governors. It facilitates communication between and among Board members, the UNC System president, senior officers, institution boards of trustees, and other constituencies.
The secretary coordinates with these various constituencies to schedule, orchestrate, and document meetings of the full Board and its committees. The office oversees the production and distribution of all Board meeting materials and other communications issued by the Board. It maintains and certifies the official acts of the Board and ensures compliance with legal requirements. In addition, the Office of the Secretary coordinates University-related travel and public appearances conducted by Board members.
The secretary serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet, providing essential support for the work of the UNC Board of Governors and its committees. The secretary also provides professional staff assistance to the Committee on University Governance of the Board.
